1.2.3...rude...

People ask me why I spend choose to spend my life in such a stressful and demanding environment. What about this profession keeps all of us so drawn to the brutality of 16 hour days over a burning hot steel plate? The answer is the brotherhood and the after party. 

There is nothing like breaking down the line after a speeding night to get out and get a few drinks to unwind. Everyone feels the tension of the week on their shoulders and is itching to be rid of it. "A team that scrubs together is a family that stays together" Sheldon said to me as we finished our scrub. Now that I think about it, he is more than right about that. It resurfaces your sense of being a part of a family, even though you chose this one. 

But the party afterward is where things get weird. Such as selfies with the entire bar...

Or Learning the risotto dance and having chef throw a curveball at you; only to jump right back into your sauté chicken arms. Things just get weird. And that is why we stay. Those moments where everyone is just happy to be around each other... Drunk or high... Is why we all feel it is the best job in the world.
